Jimmy Alton Phelps

Oxford, NC -- Jimmy Alton Phelps, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Durham VA Hospital.

Jimmy was born to the late Thomas "Tommy" and Mozelle Shearin Phelps.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Mozelle Phelps, his oldest brother, Thomas, 'Tadpole' Phelps, and his two sisters Betty Jean P. Stevenson and Frances P. Joyner, and his first wife, Yvonne Neathery Watkins Phelps.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Crowder Phelps of the home, a grandson; and his brothers, Curtis (Nell) Phelps of Four Oaks, NC, Douglas (Eleanor) Phelps of Toms River, NJ, and Jerry (Donna) Phelps of Henderson, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on September 23, at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, with Pastor Mark Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
