Education Advocacy Day set for next week in Raleigh

RALEIGH -- While North Carolina has the second largest rural population in America, the unique needs of rural school districts are often forgotten. More than two-thirds of North Carolina's traditional public school districts are rural and nearly 40 percent of students in traditional public schools are educated in a rural district. Low-wealth rural communities lack the community resources to attract and retain high quality teachers, facing higher teacher turnover rates in many instances, and difficulties in recruiting new teachers.

VGCC planning an 'Enrollment Day' on school's main campus

HENDERSON -- Vance-Granville Community College will hold "Enrollment Day" on Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. until noon, in Building 8 on the college's Main Campus in Vance County.
During those hours, VGCC staff members will be ready to assist anyone who is interested in enrolling at the college for the summer term, which starts on May 30, or the fall semester, which starts in August.
