LOUISBURG, NC -- Her spirit was strong, but her body weak. Lucille Mae Clifton, 89, passed away June 10, 2026, peacefully taking her last breath with faith.

Lucille was born August 1, 1936, to Holden and Mae (White) Peterson in Cameron Township, MN. She grew up with three older brothers, with the family making a living as tenant farmers.

She married the love of her life, Douglas Ray Clifton, in Minnesota, and embarked on new adventures, moving to Idaho to raise her four children.

Always acting with a servant's heart, she gave of herself freely, with both time and talent. Lucille also worried enough for everyone, so no one else would have to!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug, brothers Harold and Lawrence, son-in-law Curt, and great grandson Nicholas.

She is survived by her children: Debbie Grorud of Thief River Falls, MN; Scott (Diane) Clifton of Newfolden, MN; Brian Clifton of Bloomington, IN; Merry (Kenneth) Ketterer of Louisburg, NC; granddaughters Jennifer, Jessica, Lucille and Sally; and a host of other relatives.

The family hosted a personal celebration of life, enjoying Lucille's favorite foods and reliving special memories.
