THOMAS K. COLLIE
May 6, 1943 - July 6, 2025

Thomas "Tom" Kirby Collie passed peacefully at his home in Hampstead, NC on July 6, 2025.

Born on May 6, 1943 in the Cedar Rock community to the late Willis R. and Ruth S. Collie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Helen. He is survived by his daughters Suzanne Taylor (Jim), Teri Moore (Junius), and Heather Collie (Rebekah). Along with his grandchildren Emily Smith (Jonathan), Peyton Steele (Drew), Matthew Taylor, Jacob Moore, Lilly Collie, Greer Moore, Taylor Bell, and his special friend Tiny Smith.

Tom was a dedicated public servant with experiences including being a Medic in the United States Army, a Laboratory Technician in South Hill, VA and Louisburg, NC, and eventually culminated in 1996 with retirement from the State of North Carolina after 30 years as a Regional Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management.

He was active in the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Grand Patron 1984-1985 and making countless friends along the way. He continued to be involved in his community by volunteering and attending Hampstead United Methodist Church. Beyond work Tom never met a stranger, loved being a father to his three girls, and Grampsy to his seven grandchildren. In retirement Tom enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grand Chapter of North Carolina Order of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter Scholarships or Hampstead United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Louisburg United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
