ARCHIE GARLAND WOOD SR.

Archie Garland Wood Sr. passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning, January 7, 2021 with his loving wife Janet by his side.

Garland was born January 14, 1940 to (Henry) Raymond and Sallie (Mitchell) Wood. Garland was a lifelong farmer, and passed his farming passion and legacy on to future generations. He also worked 32 years as an equipment operator for the North Carolina Forestry Service. Garland is probably best known for his cooking skills by either catering, or helping to cater, many events during his life time. He was always willing to help an individual or organization in need. Garland led a colorful life and gained many lifelong friendships along the way.

Garland was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Harold Vincent Wood.

Garland is survived by his wife of 60 years; Janet M. Wood; sons, Archie Garland Wood Jr., Jeffrey Ray Wood and fiance Amy Best Wood; grandchildren, McKayla Lynn Wood and Madeline (Maddie) Rae Wood; sisters, Katherine Brigman and Emily Rose Angel; sister-in-law Bonnie Wood; 2 nephews; one niece; and a many extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Garland wished memorial contributions be made to Safe Space, PO Box 240, Louisburg, NC, 27549.

A private memorial will be held at this time, a public memorial and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
