BUNN -- Considering the injury and illness problems that her team has experienced this year, Bunn High girls coach Ashley Olinger wasn’t about to feel sorry for the Nash Central Lady Bulldogs Thursday at the BHS Soccer Field.
With Nash Central down seven players -- six to a school conflict and another (star Carly Pitt) to an injury, the Lady Bulldogs proved to be no match for BHS during a 3-0 Ladycats’ victory in a non-league matchup.

From students dissecting animals in science classes to the school’s counselor developing innovative ways for more positive choices and from a language arts teacher linking up to a class in Australia to magazine and newspaper publications, BMS is in a continual state of embracing academic and individual growth.

Cedar Creek Middle
At CCMS, students have been busy preparing for and taking the writing test, and teachers have been busy preparing for EOG’s and the final phase of the school year.
Students and staff will perform at the annual CCMS Talent Show on April 6 at 7 p.m. Admission to the talent show will be $3.
Several staff members have recently returned from the N.C. Middle School Conference. As a result, faculty is in deep discussion about positive changes to implement for next school year, such as how to ease the transition from fifth to sixth grades and from eighth to ninth grades.
March 29 is the next scheduled Early Release Day. Progress reports will be sent home on March 30. There will be a Booster Club meeting for all parents of CCMS athletes on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the CCMS media center. Students will be out of school April 14-April 23 for spring break.

All Middle Schoolers
As a reminder to parents, students will have only one opportunity to take the End of Grade tests in June. Students who do not pass the tests the first time will attend summer intervention for two weeks.
Those students will then be provided the opportunity to take the tests a second time. For students who still do not pass the tests, Summer Intervention will be provided for an additional two weeks in an effort to provide as much support to those students as possible. Additionally, students who do not pass their Math class will be required to attend Summer Intervention. Parents who are not sure about your child’s grades should request a parent/teacher conference.

Franklinton High School
The FHS National Honor Society will hold its induction ceremony on March 28 at 7 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium.
The FHS Drama Club will sponsor its annual Spring Talent Show on Thursday, March 30 from 7 – 9 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium. Admission will be $5, and all proceeds will go toward the FHS Drama Club.
The FHS Athletic Boosters will sponsor a student – faculty basketball game on March 31 at 7p.m. in the FHS gymnasium. Proceeds will go to the booster club for the support of FHS Athletics. The FHS Relay for Life Club will hold a benefit dinner in the FHS cafeteria on April 11 at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 per plate with all proceeds donated to the Relay for Life fight against cancer. Bunn High School
During February, Melanie Lovin’s art students studied pieces created by various African-American artists. Students concluded their study of famous African-American artists by creating tributes to the artists they had studied.
The BHS Concert Band participated in the North Carolina Central District High School Band Festival on Wednesday, March 15. Students traveled to Wakefield High School to participate in the festival.
BHS has 18 members on its Relay for Life Team. Lindsay Patterson is the team captain. Linda Twitty and Dusty Anderson are co-captains. Team members are currently selling large purple bows and Celebrate Life bracelets in an effort to raise money for cancer research. Members are also collecting items for the county auction and yard sales. Relay for Life Team members will be collecting donations for the next four weeks. The class that raises the most money will be rewarded with a hot fudge sundae party.
BHS is proud to be able to host Franklin County Relay for Life this year. The event will be Friday, April 21, beginning at 6 p.m. and continue through Saturday, April 22, at noon.
