Johnny went to heaven unexpectedly August 15, 2026 while working in his yard. He was born to Jack and Lucille Shannahan July 9,1949 in Bunn, NC. He lived there for all his younger years. He later moved to Raleigh, NC and worked for 10 years at the NC DOT. After meeting and marrying his wife Linda, he moved to Durham and shared his life there with her and their two children, Thomas (Tommy) and Jennifer.

They worked with their family business, Ames Pools, for about the next 20 years. He then went on to work another 20 years at Underwriters Laboratories before he retired.

Johnny loved his family above all. Caring for and supporting them was the most important thing to him.

His family grew when Jennifer and her husband, Robbie, had two precious children, Raven (Rae), and Robbie (Bob). Soon after, Tommy and his wife Megan gave us another beautiful granddaughter, Elliot (Ellie). These grandchildren were the JOY of his life. All he wanted was to share as much time and laughter as possible with them. He wanted to make them happy in anyway he could.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda; his brother Tony Shannahan and his wife Charlene; his daughter Jennifer Clark and her husband Robbie, their children Raven and Robbie; his daughter-in-law Megan and her daughter Elliot Shannahan. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death recently by his son Tommy Shannahan, his parents Jack and Lucille Shannahan, and his sister Sandra (Bunnie) Carter.

Most of all he loved his Linda, his Tommy, his Squirt, his Rae, his Bob and his Ellie!!

Johnny was well loved and will be missed sooo very much!!
