Franklinton, NC -- Elaine Ross Smith, 91, of Franklinton, died Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at her home. She was born on January 21, 1935 to the late Johnny and Irene Haley Ross in Franklin County, NC.

In addition to her parents, Elaine is preceded in death by her life partner, Donald Wright and her grandson, Richard M. Smith.

Elaine is survived by her children, Richard Smith (Kathy), Nancy Satterwhite, and Tony Smith (Pam); five grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Friday, May 22, at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton and was officiated by Pastor Jonathan Chandler.
