Castalia, NC -- Funeral services for Mary H. Anstead age 79, who died on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, were held on Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. from the Social Union Baptist Church in Castalia, NC, with Rev. Melvin Johnson, officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Born Dec. 25, 1946, she is survived by her daughters, Sharon Anstead and Kimberly Cheek (Prentice) both of Castalia, NC; sisters, Sadie Tucker (Joe) of Nashville, NC, and Gloriso Richardson of Hampton, VA; brother, Duke Hedgpeth Jr. of Littleton, NC, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Viewing was prior to the service on Saturday, March 21, from 12 until 1 p.m. at the Social Union Baptist Church in Castalia, NC.
