Lela Ann Young
January 8, 1940 - December 22, 2025

Lela Ann Dement Young, 85, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, Lela was a woman of remarkable strength whose life was centered on the love she held for her family and her community.

Lela was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Bobby Owen Young. She was also reunited with her parents, Kenneth Oliver and Vella Perry Dement; her brothers, Dallas (Corina), Garvis (Faye), Julian, and Willard Dement; her sisters, Rosalean (Millard) Jones and Marie (Aron) Gupton; her sister in-law, Gail Hockaday; her grandson, Torin Maxwell; brother-in-law Herbert and wife Joyce Young; and nephew, Herb Young.

Her legacy lives on through her three sons: Mr. Timothy Young-Maxwell (Dr. Mark Maxwell) of Winston-Salem, Bobby Glenn Young of Louisburg, and Randy Young of Louisburg. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Clyde Hockaday (Niece: Ronda & Brian and Nephew: Greg & Rose); and sister and brother in-law Debbie and Mike Duke (Nephews: Jason and Josh).

Lela was the proud grandmother of Jake, Ashley, Ally, Brandon, Michael, Justin, and Derrick, and great-grandmother to Ryleigh and Ezra. Her memory will be cherished by her many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of beloved friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. on Saturday January 10, 2026 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg NC 27549, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
