ETHEL A. HEDGEPETH

KITTRELL, NC -- Ethel Arrington Hedgepeth, 93, of 249 General Green Road, Kittrell, NC died in the early morning hours of Friday, June 27, 2025, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

Born in Townsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Coleman Arrington and Mildred Capps Arrington.

Ethel attended Townsville and Middleburg schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Macon D. Hedgepeth in 2012, her brother-in-law and his wife, Odell and Jenny Hedgepeth, and by four sisters, Barbara "Pello" Ayscue (Scott), Jean Walker (Ernest "Bo") Walker, Mary Hawkins (Jesse), Ida Mae Poythress (Marion) and three brothers, Samuel "Doot" Arrington, Patrick "Pete" Arrington (Edna) and A.A. Arrington "Tootey" (Katie).

Ethel was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Years ago, she was a Sunday School teacher for the Intermediate Class.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

The family received friends immediately following the service. All other times, they will be at the home of Rachel and Charles Gordon, 1789 Rocky Ford Road, Kittrell, NC.

The family wishes to thank Mrs. Hedgepeth's caregivers with Amedisys Hospice, Shavon Collins, Crystal Cooper, RN, Chiffon Bullock, and Dolly White, RN.
