RALEIGH, NC -- Archibald Stuart Raynor (Stuart), 92, of Raleigh and formerly of Centerville passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025.
Born in Franklin County, NC, on October 31, 1932, he was the youngest son of the late George Marion and Hattie Belle Shearin Griffin Raynor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Medlin Raynor of Raleigh, NC; son Archie Raynor (Julie) of Durham, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charlie Raynor, George Marion Raynor, Jr., Floyd Griffin, Thurman Griffin, Donald Griffin, Robert Griffin, Paul Griffin, Wilbur Raynor, and Russell Raynor, as well as sister Leona Raynor Dickens.
Stuart was born and raised in Franklin County and graduated from Gold Sand High School. He served in the Army and did a tour of duty in Korea. He skillfully and faithfully worked in construction as a builder and superintendent at Williams Realty and Builders for 40 years. He grew up attending Centerville Baptist Church and later became a member at New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved the beach, golf, and sports. He especially enjoyed coaching baseball.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Centerville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
