Jean Phelps Gordon

Jean Gordon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Gordon, 83, on January 8, 2025.

Jean was the daughter of the late Emma and "JC" (Jim Collie) Phelps of Franklinton, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Gordon and brothers, Howard Neal Phelps of Augusta, Georgia; Charles Phelps of Franklinton, North Carolina and Jimmy Phelps of Franklinton, North Carolina.

Born on November 22, 1941 in Franklinton, North Carolina. Jean grew up with a passion for traveling, her family, and our Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ. She graduated from Franklinton High School in 1960 and Louisburg College then went on to work for the Franklin County Commissioner's office for over 30 years.

Jean Gordon was known for kindness, humor, and strength and was cherished by all who knew her. She made a lasting impact on her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by sons Daniel "Danny" Beckham (Susan) and Stephen Beckham (Bonnie), Bobby Gordon (Angela) and Tammy Harbirc (Robert). Grandchildren Chad Crayton (Heidi), Ashlee Hrabic, Kimberlee Hrabic, Daniel Beckham (Kayla), Emily Beckham, Elizabeth Hrabic, Bradley Beckham, Caroline Duerr (James), Madison Beckham, Christa Gordon, Gracey Gordon and Grant Gordon. And seven great-grandkids.

A graveside service will be held on January 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, located at 2107 Liberty St, Durham, NC 27703.
