FRANKLINTON, NC--John Frederick Townsend, 81, of Franklinton, died January 24, 2022. He was born on July 21, 1940, in Dutchess County, New York to the late Theodore and Elfriede Kluge Townsend. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Annie Williamson Townsend.
John is survived by his son, Vincent Smillie (Angela Stroud); one granddaughter; and his sister, Irene Rodgers; a nephew and a niece.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 - 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC 27549. John will be buried with honours at Eastern Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
