CHARLES L. WATKINS

Louisburg, NC -- Charles Leonard Watkins, 86, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 9, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

Charles was born June 25, 1939 in Wake County, a son of the late Aaron Proctor and Rosa Perry Watkins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosella Watkins and brothers, Proctor Watkins, Donald (Tink) Watkins and Robert Watkins.

A funeral service was held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at New Hope Christian Church, Hwy 98, Louisburg, with Reverend Don Cashwell officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends in the fellowship hall Saturday from 1 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Jean Chamblee Watkins; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Regina Watkins; sister, Gracie Rogers; brother, Chester (Buddy) Watkins; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Flowers welcome or memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Christian Church, 2779 NC 98 Hwy., Louisburg, NC 27549.
