MARTHA ELAINE COTTRELL DUKE

Louisburg, NC --Martha Elaine Cottrell Duke, 87, of Louisburg, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at her home.

Elaine was born September 14, 1938 in Franklin County to the late Joseph Thomas and Meta Lee Stainback Cottrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Duke; brother, Jack Cottrell Jr. and her sisters, Hazel Mahoney, Doris Dop and Mary Cecil Rice.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 20 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. The family received friends immediately following the service. A private burial was held at the Duke Family Cemetery.

Elaine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve May; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Margo Duke; David and Rita Duke; Danny Duke; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hickory Rock Baptist Church 1580 Firetower Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.
