Edith Owen McKinne

RALEIGH, NC--Edith Owen McKinne, age 95, passed away October 2, 2024 at Transitions Hospice House in Raleigh, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Carrie Smith Owen; her husband, Philip McKinne; and her sisters Dora O. Threatt and Edna O. McMillan.

She is survived by her sisters Geraldine O. Parsons and Grace O. Leggett; son Philip; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Bill Davis; grandchildren Kevin Davis (wife Candice), Brooke D. Paz (husband Thomas); two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; beloved nieces Karen, Linda, Jackie, and their families; and beloved in-laws Jane, Elizabeth, Manning, Weldon, and their families.

Shortly after graduation from Highsmith Hospital Nursing School in Fayetteville, NC, she arrived in Louisburg at the recently opened Franklin Memorial Hospital, and after about one year, she was asked to be Director of Nursing, a position she held for the next 35 years.

After retirement, she enjoyed going out to lunch with friends, gardening, trips to the beach, and family get togethers. She enjoyed being a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for many years and receiving member visits in her later years.

The family would like to thank Franklin County EMS, WakeMed Hospital, and Transitions Hospice House for their excellent response and care.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
