ERIC R. VICK
SPRING HOPE - Eric Reid Vick, 25, died while serving in Iraq on Sunday, April 1, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, April 14, at Cornerstone Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc., 1052 S. First Street, Nashville, with the Rev. Carol Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow at Peachtree Cemetery, Spring Hope.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of Reginald and Faye Harper Vick of Spring Hope. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Dorothy Harper of Castalia, and paternal grandparents, Willie Reed Vick and Louetta Avis Braswell Vick of Spring Hope.

He held the school record at Bunn High School for poll vaulting, and still holds that record today.

Staff Sgt. Vick was based at Fort Drum, N.Y., as part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. He was a military policeman. He was deployed to Iraq from March 2003 to April 2004 and from November 2004 to May 2005. His brigade again deployed in August. Vick received numerous honors, including the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Surviving, in addition to his parents: his wife, Stephanie Fisher Vick of Lillington; one brother, Milton Ray Vick (Denise) of the Justice community; maternal grandfather, Lynwood Harper (Louise) of Castalia; three nieces and two nephews; and several aunts and uncles.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Bunn High School Band or Poll Vaulting Team at 29 Bunn Elementary School Road, Bunn, NC 27508.
