MATTHEW K. GUARD
APEX - Matthew Kelley Guard, 38, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in Holly Springs. A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Ennis St., Fuquay-Varina. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.

He was born at Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, Neb., to Michael Kellogg Guard of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla. and Lynda Shofstall Guard of Anna Maria Island, Fla. He was a former owner/chef of the Angus Junction in Louisburg. He was also involved in management of several restaurants in the Triangle and Florida.

Surviving: his wife, Megan Thayer Guard of Apex; son, Jackson Kelley Guard; daughter, McKenna Katharyn Guard of the home; brother, Christopher Michael Guard of New Orleans; paternal grandmother, Altrus Flauss Hill of Boulder, Colo.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John (Jack) D. Shofstall of Anna Maria Island, Fla.
