STATE ROAD, NC--Barbara Jean Sneed Lyon, 78, widow of Orrion Alva Lyon, died at her home on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. Born in Surry County, NC to the late Claude Jefferson and Lexie Walters Sneed, she earned a degree from Surry Community College. She taught adult education for the Wilkes and Surry Community Colleges (sewing) for several years.
ROSEBORO -- Donald Larue Miller Sr., 82. died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro, with the Rev. Hampton Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow at the Roseboro Cemetery.
LOUISBURG - JoNell Bottoms Horton, 75, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at Wake Med. A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 17, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Bundy officiating. Burial followed in the Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
