LOUISBURG -- Franklin County has a new sheriff. Kent Winstead earned more than 55 percent of the vote, with 10,895 votes to the 8,873 tallies that incumbent Sheriff Jerry Jones received. "I feel great," Winstead said shortly after the results rolled in about 11:35 p.m. "I just want to thank the people of Franklin County and the people who supported me."
LOUISBURG-Rheagan Nichole Hall, 34, a resident of 1050 Ronald Tharrington Road, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 at Maria Parham Medical Center. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Maple Springs Baptist Church.
