FRANKLINTON- Marjorie Collins Layton, 97, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2  p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Hall-Wynne Chapel by the Rev. David Averette.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

FRANKLINTON - Sylvester Conly McArthur Sr.,  96, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 28, at Kinches Chapel Christian Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. Willie R. Nixon III officiating. Interment followed in the Hawkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.

LOUISBURG - Vasti Bailey Joyner, 96, of Louisburg died Thursday, December 26, 2013.  She was born in Franklin County on September 27, 1917 to the late Alonza and Nellie Burnette Bailey. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 84 years.
