FRANKLINTON - Thelma Annie Coleman Merritt, 98, died Friday, July 20, 2018. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel, 504 East Mason Street, Franklinton, with the Rev. Spencer Strickland officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.

She was born in Alamance County to the late Edward and Ola Barber Coleman. She attended Union View Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Franklin Merritt Sr.; her son, Boyd Merritt Jr.; a daughter, Jean Carolyn Saunders; a grandson; and her siblings.

Surviving: daughter, Rose (Jackie) Stroud; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
