ROLAND PARKER


RALEIGH - Roland Parker, 75, formerly of the Pearces community, died Saturday morning, May 26, 2007. A graveside service was conducted Monday, May 28, at Pearce Baptist Church cemetery with military honors.

He was born in Johnston County. Mr. Parker was retired owner and operator of Parker’s Trading Post in Pearces. He served in the U.S. Army in Panama during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his father, Monroe Parker; mother, Leola Parker Pearce; stepfather, Wallace Pearce; brothers, Ralph, Raeford and Billy Ray Parker; sister, Lola Mae Allen.

Surviving: his wife, S. Iola Parker, daughters, Melody P. Sutherland (Don) of Wake Forest, Amy P. Bass (Seburn) of Winter Springs, Fla.; sons, Mitchel Parker of Garner, Timothy Parker (Emma) of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Sherwood Parker of Knightdale; and five grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27605.
