WAKE FOREST - Margaret Patricia Bolling Burnett, 88, of Wake Forest, NC, died Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was born in Winston-Salem on October 27, 1927 to the late James Robert and Artie Elam Bolling. Margaret was also preceded in death by her brothers, Rudy, Paul, Wilson, and Harry Bolling.

Margaret loved music, was an amateur piano composer, and had a lifelong passion for historic preservation. In 1961, as a member of the Junior Sorosis of Wilmington, she won the Florence Coper Silver Cup award for an original piano composition. Growing up, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Margaret attended both Blackstone College for Girls and Salem College. One of her most cherished accomplishments was co-authoring the children's book "The Frog Pond Symphony" with her granddaughter.

Margaret is survived by her son, John Stephen Burnett; her daughters, Sandra Lynn Burnett, and Betsy Burnett Benning and husband Fleet; her children's father, Hon. Gilbert Henry Burnett; and four grandchildren, Melanie Lark Benning, John William Benning, Henry Burnett, and Harry Burnett.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local food bank or Salvation Army.
