JESSE W. SATTERWHITE


RALEIGH - Jesse Willard Satterwhite, 87, died at his home in Raleigh on  Monday, July 18, 2011. Funeral service was held Friday, July 22, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, Knightdale, with the Rev. Bryan Siefert officiating. Entombment followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon, with military honors and Masonic Rites.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Richard Elam Satterwhite and Geneva Jernigan Satterwhite. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II after graduating from Knightdale High School. He was a self-employed general contractor for more than 50 years.

Surviving: companion, Linda Dianne Crowder; son, Jesse Willard Satterwhite Jr. (Elaine) of Raleigh; daughter, Kirvin Satterwhite of Palm Springs, Calif.; sisters, Charlotte S. Hensley of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Emma Jean Faison of Raleigh, Shirley S. Gordon of Clayton; brothers, Jack Satterwhite of Leland and Steve Satterwhite of Raleigh; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances S. Poole, and brothers, James and Perry Satterwhite.
